Apex Engineering Enhances GPS System

Apex is proud to be a contributing partner to the Washington State Reference Network (WSRN) by enhancing and extending the effectiveness of the GPS system in Washington. Apex has provided a new location for a GPS base station on the roof of our office building, which is providing extended GPS coverage within the Tacoma area.

Apex is the only firm in the Tacoma area which is a partner to the WSRN. The WSRN is a regional cooperative of GPS base stations that provides real-time network solutions through wireless modems. This partnership allows Apex the flexibility to select the tool, which will provide the most cost-saving solution for our clients. Apex can save time by eliminating the need for a base station, to continuously receive “Real-Time” corrections, and permit Apex to use more rovers on a project site.

This facet of our work includes control for aerial mapping, subsidence surveys for earth or building movement, GIS control, and general mapping.  Mission planning is vital to a successful project.
